Whither the USA?

The die is cast. It is now settled; the president of the USA is an avowed racist. And now the soul of the nation will be tested. Will the citizens stand with a bigot or will they affirm the painful progress, through lost lives and injury, that we have made on the issue of race? From a nation of slaveholders to one that embraces racial and national diversity? We will know the answer if the poll numbers of supporters begin to fall precipitously and the GOP members of Congress elect to separate themselves from this invitation to return to the dark past.
